Project Overview

Launched in 2018, this pioneering initiative introduced plastic-mixed asphalt technology in Nepal — adapted from successful models in India and Bhutan. Green Road collaborated with technical experts and local communities to demonstrate that low-value plastics (PP, MLP) could be effectively used in road construction.

Key Achievements

  • Nepal’s first plastic-mixed asphalt road successfully constructed
  • 2,500 meters of durable, pothole-resistant roads built across pilot sites
  • Over 3,000 kg of low-value plastics diverted from landfills and rivers
  • Technology now adopted by municipalities and private contractors nationwide
“This was the spark that ignited the plastic road movement in Nepal.”
